Turned the source black and white and used brightness/contrast to get a hold of the really white parts.
step 2 of 5
Selected the white parts and copied the face.
Used the same selection and made a new layer filled with white.
I put that underneath the other and lower the opacity a lot on the b/w face so only
the shadows were a bit visible, then I merged the two layers, and cut out eyes and nose.
step 3 of 5
Made a copy of his hairstrings falling into the forehead, and erased everything that wasn´t hair.
step 4 of 5
Selected the mask-layer and contract the selection, moving it a little, inverted the selection and
made a new layer and filled it with black. Selected the masklayer once again, and erased the new blackfilled layer.
34 % opacity and now I had the edges of the mask, using bevel/emboss wasn´t satisfying.
step 5 of 5
Made a new layer, used opacity on the brush, painting some black shadowing on the mask and then put 14% opacity on the layer.
At last I made a layer and painted in his eyes a little so they would be visible. And did some finishjob with blending to get the last touch.
