first add primitive - cylinder with 8 rotation segments, 1 cap segment and 4 height segments, with measures radius=50 and height=60.
Make it editable(ctrl+C), and use optimize function

before you select polys, check if select only visible is checked, then select polys from the top wiew window, and use melt(U~Z).
Next select "red"polys, use melt, next the "blue" polys and finally use melt. Here we have the whole diamond(brilliant).

Settings for the diamond shader - especially the IOR-refraction, 2,417 for diamond.
That is a perfect diamond shape, and your step 13 looks awesome.
