My thistle picture, of course, for the finches that aren't there to snack yet. It will have a layer mask applied in the next frame so I can blend it with the background.
step 2 of 14
Thistles were added, then flipped to the other side
step 3 of 14
Use of the layer mask for blending.
step 4 of 14
I took portions of the original tree and flipped them, also cloning sky areas to extend the picture to the right
step 5 of 14
step 6 of 14
The farm implement was added (thanks Danie) and original background removed with the pen tool. There was also a bit of desaturation to fit the atmosphere.
step 7 of 14
The next three steps are my turkey photos
step 8 of 14
Turkey pic 2
step 9 of 14
3rd turkey pic. These were crossing the road near my home a couple of years ago.
step 10 of 14
The three turkeys were placed & trimmed. The furthest one was desaturated somewhat because it was too intense.
step 11 of 14
I added the car body(thanks Jeff Winkler). Some of the brightness was taken away from the car & farm implement by changing their color modes to LAB, selecting the "brightness" channel, then adjusting it with curves. Doing this adjusts the brightness without destroying the color, although I think I desaturated just a tad anyway.
step 12 of 14
I added this cool old house(too bad I had to cut half of it off), thanks to Swainboat on flicker. The right side of the tree had to be duplicated to put over the house, which was resized & placed over the crest of the hill to make the perspective work with the shack.
step 13 of 14
Finally were added the red-winged blackbird and the crow.(my next 2 pics)
