step 8 of 20

Homestead building is brought into scene with the stream to be chopped. Bottom of building has the grass removed here (eraser) and is approximately where it will be scaled down and set.

step 9 of 20

The end of the building is cut out now using the brush tool with a dark color. More defining of supports and boards inside will take place later.

step 10 of 20

Next the little roof on the side is removed by cloning the boards from beside it.

step 12 of 20

Children are lassoed from their sources and moved into stream area ready to chop (eraser tools) and scale down. (edit/transform/scale tools)

step 13 of 20

Here the children have been scaled and chopped.

step 14 of 20

Children are almost finished here. Boy is sitting in grass and grass under him has been darkened with clone tool. He will have a fishing pole made with the brush tool. Water at base of fishing line has to be have a few lines drawn in and smudged a little like ripples. The girls both have to have water worked around their feet with smudge and clone tools, and they need shadows with the burn tool.

step 15 of 20

In order to make this a 'proper' covered bridge, it has to have a stone foundation on each end. These stones are brushed in and blended a little with a smudge tool, then burn tool used on side away from the light source. A base must be brushed in where beams hold the bridge up as well.

step 16 of 20

As bridge is being finished, dodge and burn tools used along with the shift key help to form the boards inside. With the eraser tool, using the square tools, open areas are cut out to let background source to show through. Close attention to perspective of bridge is really important as you do this.

step 17 of 20

This scene really needed a dog to be there with the children, so I found Charlie after looking through many photos at morguefile. He has been moved in with lasso tool and will be chopped with eraser tools now, then scaled to fit scene.

step 18 of 20

Dog is finished now, and dandelions are cloned over parts of the field and under the tree. A few larger dandelions and daisies are placed in the foreground corner which adds to the perspective of the scene.

step 19 of 20

A slight rosy glow is brushed over the background trees with the airbrush tool set at 2%.
