Masked the original image, and cut unwanted areas.
step 2 of 11
Continued masking the outside areas, to get the thorny edges by themselves.
step 3 of 11
The edges are cleaned, and look nice.
step 4 of 11
Took the chestnut out of the shell, and left the prickly shell by itself. Clonned the middle part of the shell.
step 5 of 11
Selected an area from the top of the shell to get this shape. Used the Filter - Liquify, to transform it.
step 6 of 11
Using the Transform Tool, I made the shape swirl around, several times, until I was happy with this form. Merge layers down.
step 7 of 11
Selected these two shaped areas, below the thorny side, to make a kind of branch.
step 8 of 11
Using the Filter - Liquify - Warp, I got this form. Used Curves to make it darker and shinnier.
step 9 of 11
Copied the piece of branch, several times to make a kind of frame.
step 10 of 11
Put things together to form this primitive art form.
step 11 of 11
I make a rounded selection from the chestnut to make the buttons like. Added some shadows. I will appreciate your suggestions and comments to make my work better. Thank you all, and good luck!
