If you cant read waht it says:
width=2000pixels
height=1500pixels
resolution=72ppi(pixels per inch)
color mode=RGBcolor---8bits
step 2 of 24
1.copy the image located here:
high res= http://www.pxleyes.com/images/contests/glass%20bowl/fullsize/sourceimage.jpg
low res= http://www.pxleyes.com/images/contests/glass%20bowl/fullsize/sourceimagesmall.jpg
any of both work.
2. to get rid of the background and just leave the bowl we will make something calling tracing. Basically is using the polygon tool and select the bowl ( you will need to zoom in to get that) this is a long process so dont get frustrated.
3. After tracing all the image (it doesn't have to be a perfect trace) , now copy(control+C) or (command +c) and then paste (control+v) or (command+v)
step 3 of 24
1. make a copy of the bowl layer (the one made in step 2). Open transform tool (control+t). Now right click (or control click on mac with one click mouse) and select warp. Make something like the image shows.
2. With the rectangular marquee tool, select the half of the image that looks better. copy (control+c) or (command+c) and then paste it (control+v) or (command+v).
3.Do the same done in step 1.
4. copy the half of the bowl`head and paste it. on the copy of the bowl`s head use transform tool (control+t) and on the top there is an option that says W:100% change it to -100%. press enter or the check to apply the change. Now just put the 2 sides of the bowl`s head together leaving no space between.
step 4 of 24
1. put the bowls layer on top of all the layers. Select transform tool (control+t) or (command+t) and then select warp (like we did on the step number 3). Just disort the bowl so it fits the bowl`s head.
2. now select eraser tool(E) ( select brush tool size 32 and 50% opacity) delete the parts that r on top of the bowls head.
3. select the 3 layers, right click (or control click on mac) and click "convert to smart object". Name the layer as : "pin". make a copy of the layer and hide it from view( click the eye). We will need this later. Also to make the pin look better you can use transform tool (control+t) and make it larger but not wider.
step 5 of 24
1.make other 9 pins from the base pin layer. Align them like the image shows. (to make easier copies use the move tool(V) click and drag while pressing alt so it copies the pin without deleting the other one.)
2. Apply the settings on the right.( drop shadow and bevel and emboss) note: select the 10 layers of the 10 pins and merge them together.
step 6 of 24
Now make a copy of the 10 pins. If the layer is a smart object, right click it and select "rasterize layer". now go on image>adjustments>Hue/saturation and apply the settings below.
step 7 of 24
Now put the modified image of the pins on top of the other one. Put the layer style as overlay and reduce its opacity (from around 50 and 70 is ok) you can keep it on 100 if you want.
step 8 of 24
1.now unhide the pin we saved before. make 3 pins (like the image shows) and add stroke (layer>layer styles>stroke) to them (add different strokes and color to each) give the first one a stroke of 7 and name the layer 7. the second one name it 5 (give it a stroke of 5) and the last one name it 3 (give it a stroke of 3). On blending options (the general blending section) reduce the opacity to 0 so it only leaves the strokes. Also give different tones of red to each one.
2. now put the layer 3 on top of the layer 5, and the layer 5 on top of the 7. it should look something like it looks on the image.
3. merge the 3 layers together (select the 3 layers and right click and select merge). Delete some white parts if its needed.
step 9 of 24
1.name the 3strokes layers "glowpin"
2. copy the glowpin layer and give it a glassian blur(filter>blur>glassian blur) of 10. put it on top of the glowpin.
3. copy the 2 layers to make another glowpin. Rotate both layers to make like an x.
step 10 of 24
1.now with the marquee elipse tool make a nice circle (hold shift).
2. with the gradient tool(G) make a linear gradient on the selections. The colors (light blue-85f7f6 is alright or something close and dark green-186302 or something close to it is alright) make the gradient like the image so there is a lot of light blue and a little of dark green.
3. Convert the layer as smart object (right click or control click on mac and select "convert to smart object") and apply plastic wrap (filter>artistic>plastic wrap) and apply the settings below. Name the layer "bowling ball"
step 11 of 24
1. when the plastic wrap is applied, an eye then the word plastic wrap and lastly some lines with some arrows will appear. Double click to the double lines and arrows thing. Some dialog box like the image shows will appear. Set the filter mode to darken.
1. make a copy of the "bowling ball" and apply glassian blur (filter>blur>glassian blur) amount 10 to it. put that layer on top of the bowling ball one.
step 12 of 24
1. with the elipse marquee tool make a elipse. Fill the selection with white. Make 2 of them (one in a different layer).
2. select glassian blur (filter>blur>glassian blur) about 10 also (to both elipses). With transform tool (control+t) right click on the lower elipse (or control click on mac) and select warp. Make a nice curved elipse( sorry for the ugly one in this step) change its opacity to 77% and fill of 89% (to both lights.) Now join the 2 lights and name the layer "bowling ball light".
step 13 of 24
1. join the pin glowing sign with the bowling ball. Make it look something like the image shows. save a copy of the bowling ball and hide it from view (click eye). merge the glowing pins and the bowling ball.
step 14 of 24
Color shown on image. use any sized brush. Cover half of the image. if it covers more doesnt matter. Name this layer color1
step 15 of 24
name this layer color2. this goes on top of layer color1
step 16 of 24
Name this layer color3. this goes on top of layer color1 and layer color2. Look image for settings
step 17 of 24
To make this set the foreground color as "#bcc443" and background as white. Open a new layer. Fill it with black (edit>fill) and select black or background color. Then go to fibers (filter>render>fibers). Variance=30 strength =30. Then open transform tool (control+t) right click the image (or control click with mac) and select perspective. Drag the top right square towards the top center square. resize the image so it looks like its shown. Apply the settings below. Name it "fibers1" this goes on top of all the color layers done so far,
step 18 of 24
make a new layer and fill it half way with black. control click the layer "fibers" and that will make a selection of it. delete that space in the black layer. Then add noise (filter>noise>add noise) Add around 30. Make it glassian.
step 19 of 24
here is really important to fill half of the layer with red. To make a straight lines with brush tool, paint while pressing shift. Use the settiings bellow. Name this "topcolor1" this goes on top of fibers and the black layer color one.
step 20 of 24
open a new layer, (make sure foreground color is "#4e0e0f" and background black. Select clouds (filter>render>clouds). You will get something like this( if you don`t like the clouds you go you can always change them with fiter>render>clouds)
step 21 of 24
select the clouds image and go to layer>create clipping mask.
step 22 of 24
name this layer "topcolor2" this goes on top of "topcolor1". Use the settings bellow
step 23 of 24
this is how i made the pinkish-red bowling ball. i applied motion blur(filter>blur>motion blur to the second ball(around 300) . put the layer with motion blur behind the other one. lastly just move it around so it looks like if its moving.
step 24 of 24
lastly put everything together. Note some things. The pins and the bowling ball(Red) go on top of everything. the sign of the pins and the bowling ball go between "topcolor1" and "topcolor2". There you go. A bowling scene with just a bowl.
