I started by adjusting the color and brightness/contrast of the original.
step 2 of 10
I used the picture of Rob to give him back the top of his head in the picture I was using. I did a lot of color adjusting, some light cloning and brightness/contrast to match the two pieces.
step 3 of 10
I put the clothes in postion.
step 4 of 10
I aged Rob by using liquify to drag down the eyes and jaw and sink in the cheeks, burn to make the wrinkles and shadows. I cloned his neck and then used adjustment layers (brightness/contrast and levels) to add depth. I continued to clone the shirt and coat.
step 5 of 10
I used Elke's original hair and used adjustment layers (exposure, saturation and brightness/contrast) to turn it gray.
step 6 of 10
Here, I starting to age Elke. I took copies of her jaw and added them under her chin. (Sorry, Elke. As we get older, gravity is not our friend.)
step 7 of 10
I used the same techniques with Elke as I did with Rob to age her.
step 8 of 10
I wanted to put their picture in an oval and realized I needed to clone the shirt a bit more, as well as use copies of the jacket to fill it out.
step 9 of 10
The background was done by using burn and dodge with a natural brush.
step 10 of 10
The card is off-white with a sponge filter, distort and text.
Great! We can imagine how they will be some years ago...
