then select leaves from source picture to start constructing the body using transform and warp tools to get the shapes you want.
step 3 of 8
once the body is done, begin building the hair and the bikini. For the hair, I built a yellow layer the shape I wanted. Then a goldish brown layer of the same shape, and then overlayed a selection of the center of one of the sunflowers from the source
step 4 of 8
I then started merging layers together to blend the body parts so they looked like they were all part of the same body. Using warp, I accented her chest so her flowers were nice and full ;) and then used the patch tool to blend the limbs all together. I did a lot of burning and dodging to give shadows and highlights to the body. Then I choose to do a color overlay on all of the layers with body parts on them, using a bright green color.
(shown with some layers hidden)
step 5 of 8
after all the shadows are added, I start shadowing on the bikini parts. Because of the merge, I have to build a new arm piece to cover over the hair layer (which were three layers, I know, but I merged them together so I could work with them singularly). Burn and dodge and color overlay that layer as well. Body is about done, minus the most important part.
step 6 of 8
THE FACE!!!
No pin up is complete without killer bedroom eyes and pouty lips. But I decided to paint this ones face. I originally thought to merge a human pinup face on to the creation, but for the playing card that I ended up doing, the cartoonish painted face seemed more fun
step 7 of 8
and then the background, which again, I choose to go a little less technical. Since I decided on the fun cartoonish look of the face, I followed suit with the background the same. First I filled a blank layer with a light blue. Using rectangular marquee, I selected a point I deemed “horizon†and filled that area with a light brown. Used filter to add noise, and checked the box for monochrome. Warped that area to give it a rolling look, and then deselected, and did the same to the bottom of the sky line so that it meets up. I added shadowing around in the sand to ground “Sunny†and then blurred the sky line.
step 8 of 8
I used cloud brushes found at http://tomqvaxy.deviantart.com/art/Chinese-Clouds-by-TOMQVAXY-104437117 for the chinese clouds and went a shade lighter for the color. I then blurred the edges so they had a softer look.
I pasted two sunflowers on the corners of the pinup so it looked like a vintage playing card.
