On a new canvas, sky is airbrushed in, adding clouds also with airbrush in grays, rose, and white.
step 6 of 14
Sky is finished with brush tools.
step 7 of 14
I started out with the idea of just using a unicycle, which I am forming here with one of the bicycle wheels and the seat from the source. Even though I changed my mind and used the source without change, I leave it in to show how you often have to change directions when creating an entry.
step 8 of 14
The bike rider has been chopped and moved into the canvas which has been extended on both sides. Sky will be completed using the brush tools once again.
step 9 of 14
Here I have put in the whole bicycle rather than the unicycle. Since the front wheel is slightly turned, a tightrope straight across wouldn't work, so I decided to go off into a 'make-believe' theme and have the rope curve through the clouds into the distance. I have added poles to attach the rope, and added noise filter to the poles.
step 10 of 14
Here I am working on chopping the bicycle. With so many spokes to work around, I used the background eraser tool, and where background was so dark, actually chopped away the spokes then replaced them with a small, hard brush tool.
step 11 of 14
The bicyclist was from a very small photo source, so required quite a bit of brush work to sharpen details. I used a star brush for spots on his hat and shirt. Also added some red and white stars in the sky. One leg had to be erased to fit on bicycle, so leg on other side had to be brushed in.
step 12 of 14
A flag was created using the brush tool, then duplicated and scaled to different sizes. The edit/transform/horiz.flip tool was also used. More clouds have also been added here and there on rope and on bike wheel.
step 13 of 14
Pins being juggled have been taken from those in his hand, then chopped, duplicated, rotated, and given motion blur. The hot air balloon is added, scaling dupllications down to create more depth to the composition. The opacity is also lowered, the further away they are. A very think cloud layer is added over them as well.
step 14 of 14
Now the fireworks are added. After chopping, using background eraser tool and small eraser zoomed in, fireworks are duplicated and overlapped. Small 'explosions' are added with brush tools. Some of the fireworks are placed under cloud layers to give the impression that they are popping up between the layers of clouds.
