First 3 steps to forming flower from section of peacock neck. The liquify warp tool is used along with the smudge tool and eraser tool.
step 2 of 11
Petals are ruffled using the smudge tool then placed to form flower and merged into one layer.
step 3 of 11
Petal details are finished with brush and burn tools, then yellow added for 'beard' on the iris.
step 4 of 11
A new canvas is opened, then peacock source moved into it. It is reversed using the edit/transform/flip horiz. tool.
step 5 of 11
Iris foliage is brushed in with brush tool in one area, then duplicated and overlapped until bottom portion of canvas it covered. Some groups of foliage are also reversed w horiz. flip tool so that groups don't look very much alike. Highlights on leaves are added with burn and dodge tools.
step 6 of 11
A peahen is formed using body of the male source photo. She is very plain with no topknot. Also, some of the flowers are inserted. Next another style of iris will be made so that there will be more variation in the flowers. Their colors will be changed w hue/saturation tool.
step 7 of 11
These 4 steps show how the second flower design is formed. Again, the liquify warp tool is used, then the smudge and eraser tools are used to further shape them.
step 8 of 11
Here the new design is changed into other colors using the image/adjust/hue and saturation too.
step 9 of 11
Since this design shows the area where stem would attach, a stem is brushed in and shaded for each of them.
step 10 of 11
More flowers are now added to the canvas, placing them in a design which moves ones eyes down through the image. Some are moved forward or backward through the layers of leaves. (Leaves have not been merged together, so can still be moved.)
step 11 of 11
Finally, any flaws where leaves overlap are repaired with brush or smudge tools. Also, attention is given to where shadows are needed and are put in with burn tool. Flowers have also been scaled to different sizes and some reversed horizontally. Last of all, the whole canvas is merged together then size reduced for uploading.
