Using the silhoutte that I found, bring it in to trace the shape for the smoke girl.
step 2 of 9
Mask off the smoke so we can tweak it.
step 3 of 9
Warp our girls feet so the come out of the cigarrette.
step 4 of 9
Mask off the girl again so that we can use a very soft brush to paint just a little soft edge around her border. I don't want her to appear solid here, just a suttle outline.
step 5 of 9
Do the same thing for her arm and hand so that we can make her look like she is beckoning us.
step 6 of 9
I cut out this lovely face and then cleaned up two copies of it. One to be used as a luminosity layer for our smoke girl. And another to bring out her eyes and lips in full color.
step 7 of 9
Next I used gussian blur to fuzz out the coffee house image. Then placed it over the top or the smoke and the girl and everything else. change it to a "lighten" adjustment layer and everything behind it gets to stay in the scene.
step 8 of 9
As you can see we lost a bit of the smoke though which is no good at all. So to fix that we need to bring in another adjustment layer from the smoke in the background.
step 9 of 9
Once we bring in the smoke on top as a screen adjustment layer it all comes together with no missing pieces in the smoke stream.
