Tree chopped and cloning tool is used to shape top. Trunk is extended with cloning and smudge tools.

Background is started by using strips of the red leaves across top and side, and ferns are used for rest of background.

Mezzotint and brown filters have been added to background.

Stones from under tree are chopped and added at top of pot, then trimmed to fit around bottom of extended tree trunk.

Ivy is chopped and will be scaled, flipped and rotated to go down and around trunk.

Ivy is done, then a gradient overlay is added with red at top and yellow toward bottom. Opacity is set back to 50% to allow background patterns to show through.

On a new canvas, bird is sketched in with the brush tool. After chopping, it will be moved onto background just finished.

Basic shading on bird has been done here. Rest of details will be done with smudge tool, brush tool, and burn tool.

Ribbon and roses are started here. Rose shape is drawn with brush tool, but a stock rose could be chopped and used instead.

This is a close-up of creating the rose. Several shades of red will be used, then burn and dodge tools to get shading.

Finally, the dove is completed with burn tool and then brightness and contrast used to bring out feathers. Additional work is also done on shadows.
