First masked the gator using a channel selection to start the mask and touched it up with brushes

Masked the rear portion of a duplicate to start the compacting

Cut out a portion of the area to the back of the legs

Move the remaining portion of the tail to fit a duplicate of the rear leg area and blended with masks

A duplicate of the rear portion was moved and blended into the was move forward and blended into the front portion to shorten the distance between the legs

Once the gator was made more compact it was flipped to get it facing the other way

Drop shadows were created and moved to their own layer. This is the body shadow with the head area masked out

This is the shadow used for the head. Again it is moved to a layer and the body portion was masked out to make the head appear higher off the ground

Portions of the ground were duplicated and using some warp transform, with skew and distort made into this layer to extend the bottom of the image to add the new gator

This is the clone layer to rid the background of repeating areas of stone and blades of grass

The blade of grass and shadow on the original gator's nose was cloned out

The grass on the nose and tail of the compacted gator was cloned out
