A Work in Progress: Mondrian Tree

Used a pen to start drawing a basic tree shape. Wanted a nice curvy tree so I went for a kind of oak tree look.

Basic Shape of the tree is finished with pen.

Using black pastel to do outline for tree. Start drawing leaves with pen.

Adding more leaves.

Adding color to the leaves.

Finished with leaves. Divided tree into blocks and started coloring.

Finished coloring the tree. Next up the background.

Made the background based on some of Mondrian's other work. Smudged the background with toilet paper to give it a smoother texture than the rest. Stuck the picture up outside (better light) and took a photo. All done!

Lol you can actually see how long this took me to make by the way it gets darker and darker in the room as I'm working and taking photos of the work. I didn't even notice it while i was working because I was so engrossed in the process!
