A Work in Progress: Desert Water

So I'm adding this sbs guide because I have to..

Start by creating a circular shape. Now create a line defining the path of the water.

While having the circle selected add the compound object called Loft. Press "get path" and select your line. To clean up the two end of your mesh you can bevel them with the "edit poly" modifier.

Now you can play with the "ripple" and the "noise" modifier to get the desired look. When the mesh looks good enough you can export it as an .obj depending on your rendering software.

For this part I used KeyShot 2.

Import your model. Make sure that you align your mesh to the ground. Now add an environment image and a background plate if you want to. Open the material editor and select a water-like material. Make sure to edit it's properties to get the desired look and apply it to the mesh.
Then render the image. Make sure to keep the setting fairly low. Using the "normal" preset still gives you great quality.
