Create new image, then using 3px create our map shape

Choose spiral shape and place it into new layer

Turn spiral shape and modify it in similar way.

Use brush to create spiral shape of our map.

Select our map and create new layer. Then fill it with cloud rendering with b56d20 and e4a543 colours.

Using brush create Island in another layer.

Now we are going to create cartography map. Use simply straight black line and modify it to be more "arched"

Copy and past this line to create whole cartography.

Use elliptical selection and create a red circle ( Menu Edit->Stroke)

Create new layer and create single black line. Set it into in the middle of our circle. Copy and past it 6 times. Turn each line to 30 degrees.

Our 6 lines should be look like that.

Create fleur the lys using PS shapes.

Erase side arrows. We will need four of that arrows.

Three additional fleur the lys arrows should be turned as you can see at our picture. Also you can add another fleur the lys at the top of our circle. You may also add few X - they will be our cities.

Now you can add additional sketches, for example skulls, monsters, ships. Also create Islands and cities names using PS text :).

Using link that I provided you can add wooden texture beneath our map. Also I suggest to add shadows. The map that was created in this step by step guideline was a new map, it was created much faster and it not looks as good as the first one, because the resolution is much lower.
