I traced my own photo with the Pen Tool and started shading and highlighting the body with the Burn and Dodge Tool.
step 2 of 12
I added color to the body using Hue and Saturation. Then using the Pen Tool I traced each of the fingers from the previous photo, added shadows and highlights and changed the color. The same was done for the fingernails. I created the hair with the Pen Tool and to make the texture for it I made a new enlayer, added noise, and then applied a motion blur. Then I overlayed it over the hair layer and lowered the opacity.
step 3 of 12
I cut out the boot using the Pen Tool, then duplicated it twice so that I can work on taking the cuffs from in front of the boot and sole using the Clone Stamp. I also used the Warp Tool to warp the top of the boot so it looks like the woman is wearing it.
step 4 of 12
I cut out the cuffs using the Pen Tool, changed the perspective, and then duplicated it multiple times to add thickness.
step 5 of 12
I cut out the (bracelet?) using the Pen Tool, then duplicated it and cut out a section so that I can work on removing the boot using the Clone Stamp.
step 6 of 12
I cut out a section that I wanted to use as torn fabric wrapped around her hand. Warped it and changed the color using Hue and Saturation.
step 7 of 12
I created the cobblestone myself with no references. I just made a bunch of shapes using the Pen Tool and placed them on top of a background with noise. I then used this pattern and changed the perspective to make the ground. The water was just made with the Brush Tool with Layer Effects and a lowered opacity.
step 8 of 12
I created the brick walls myself with no references as well. I had to find perspective and create the lines that way. Then I just added Bevel and Emboss and Texturizer for texture. All this was done for the back wall as well.
step 9 of 12
Here is where we're at so far.
step 10 of 12
I cut out the whip, and edited it with the Clone Stamp to remove the cuff.
step 11 of 12
I cut out the section of the boot circled in blue to create the butt for the rat, then added the same effect as I did for the woman's hair, also using the Smudge Tool to make hair stand up. The opening for the cup was made with the top of the "bracelet". Everything else was just drawn.
step 12 of 12
I created the cuts and bruise with the Brush Tool and added the effect shown.
