combined both sources
cut out guitar and distorted into position
used colour match to blend
used clone tool to remove unwanted image from main source

made rough sketch on a new layer of where I would like the cubes to be whilst leaving some spaces to create an OOB effect

made original image semi transparent

Used pen tool to cut out original image parts
with each part I distorted and used brightness to make each cube face light or dark

Having cut all the parts and adjusting some to fit I added shading to various parts (not to a particular light source)
In addition I highlighted some cube edges with a small dodge brush
