Rannoth Moor, Scotland photo for the island and mountains for background.
step 7 of 17
Background of island and mountains has had the nebula source inserted over it. Both have been set to 120 resolution, then scaled to fit canvas.
step 8 of 17
Nebula is scaled to fit over the sky area for now, but will be duplicated and placed over all the canvas by end of project. It is reduced in opacity to 60% to let the mountains and island show through.
step 9 of 17
Tree source is now isolated with lasso and brought into the canvas. Resolution is upped to 120, then it is chopped and placed on the island, scaling it to size.
step 10 of 17
Grass around base of tree is merged into the background island with eraser tool soft brush set at a low setting of 10%
step 11 of 17
Here the colors below tree needed to be darker, so this is done with the cloning tool after merging tree trunk to island layer.
step 12 of 17
The canvas is enlarged to 11 x 15 (top is added), and a duplicate of the nebula is placed over it and matched in color with hue/saturation tool.
step 13 of 17
The larger strawberry source is chopped, then, starting at top, the tree top is formed. Strawberries are rotated as needed for shaping the tree top. Rows that are merged can be duplicated to save some time. Burn tool will be used to add darker areas where needed. The tree top is not merged to the background yet so that birds can be put there later if desired.
step 14 of 17
Here the smaller berry source is used. After chopping, these are placed below larger ones. After completion, all berries on tree are merged together. Further shaping of this portion of tree can now be done with distort and scale tools.
step 15 of 17
Metal sculpture is lassoed and brought into scene.
step 16 of 17
One wing was not in a good position, so it was removed with eraser tool, then the other wing was duplicated and replaced the erased wing. It is merged onto bird. Liquify warp tool is used to change shape of some of tail feathers, beak and legs. Scale tool makes the bird taller.
step 17 of 17
Two more birds are added, then blue and red filters are added and reduced to 10% opacity. Reflections also have been added of tree and birds.
