I started with a plane (editable poly).I created the low poly model.

I used "Turbo smooth" to get a higher poligonal mesh. And edited untill I get the proper shape.

I created splines to make shoelace, and added "renderable spline modifier" to make splines have volume and look like shoelace.

I rendered a sample scene to make shadow corrections, poligon problems etc. and get my first opinion about lightning.

I made materials, with a few bump map to get a leather look. I used composite material for bump mapping. I mixed noise and cellular map on compoiste map. And this is what my shoe look like in real.
