Liquify warp is done here to the source butter photo. This will be used for the water.
step 4 of 14
This source photo is now added and moved to backward layer. Then the liquified layer is lowered in opacity to allow the leaf colors to show through.
step 5 of 14
For background the liquifed layer is placed on top of pastel leaf layer, then filters of craquleur and glass are added.
step 6 of 14
Silver lid is chopped on new canvas.
step 7 of 14
Here are the 6 steps in creating the water lily from the silver top.
step 8 of 14
A section of the table is cut out and moved into scene then smudge tool 'drags' the long lily stems into place. One of the flowers has also been added into scene and will be duplicated, and scaled and rotated into place on the stems.
step 9 of 14
Some buds have been brushed in and flower has more shadows and center has been further developed using some oranges and yellows, then burn tool for depth.
step 10 of 14
Lily pads have been formed from butter dish with smudge tool, then some color added with hue/sat tool, shaped with eraser tool, then duplicated . They will each be shadowed with burn tool on top as well as water under them. Noise filter is used on them also.
step 11 of 14
Here is the creation of the dragonfly using handle of the butter dish for head, glass portion is used for wings, and dark portion of dish for the body. Some work was done with liquify warp followed with smudge and eraser tools. Some reference sources were used to get features of head and wings. Lines on wings were done with a small, hard brush tool. Lines will be later softened with very soft eraser tool and reduced in opacity to look transparent.
step 12 of 14
All parts are complete for dragonfly now, but not merged because wings will be moved to different positions for different 'flies'.
step 13 of 14
Some smaller dragonflies are placed on flowers and shadows are made under them. Small areas in wings are hit with some white brushed highlights, wings are made more transparent using lower opacity and some erasure (set at very low hardness). Sizes of the dragonfllies are changed with the scale and distort tool with closest one being the largest. Gaussian blue is also added to flying d'flies. Finally filters in blue/green and brown are added, then lowered to 10% opacity.
step 14 of 14
Have added a sculpture made from the butter dish top since some folks aren't happy that nothing elso 'looks' like it came from the dish. Hope this will make them happy now!! lol
