First step was to crop the source to cut away part of the foreground and sides.
step 9 of 17
Waterfall source is moved into canvas after raising resolution to 120.
step 10 of 17
The upper falls in the source is used over the wall at the back, trimming so that it looks like it comes out of an opening in the wall. This water will be lowered in opacity, and some distort tool will add some breakup in the water.
step 11 of 17
Instead of using water from waterfall source for the pond, I found water lily pond. Edges are trimmed with eraser tool to fit inside of the little brick border.
step 12 of 17
Bridge source has been used for bridge by lassoing bridge and moving it into the canvas. Bushes at each end are blended into scene with smudge tool, and bushes at each side of waterfall are extended in front of waterfall using smudge tool and cloning tool.
step 13 of 17
Beastly statue is added next, and sized with edit/transform/scale tool. He could sit on top of the wall, but I decided to make him larger and clone in the idea of his body on each side. I also will add light and shadows with dodge and burn tools, and work on his eyes to give them a somewhat realistic look with white/gray centers w some dark around them (dodge and burn tools)
step 14 of 17
Yucca is chopped and added to the two yucca plants then shaded and highlighted with dodge and burn tools.
step 15 of 17
Now, frogs are cropped and merged into the water using soft eraser tool, adding some lines in water with smudge tool to show some movement of water around the frogs.
step 16 of 17
Reclining frog fountain is added now and merged into water as frogs were. Reflection of fountain and water spout is made by duplicating the layer and lassoing the area to be flipped vertically as a reflection. Rest of that layer is erased. The reflection is then lowered in opacity and blended into the water.
step 17 of 17
Finally, the whole scene is merged so that a reddish brown filter can be added over the entire canvas. It is reduced to 35% opacity, and in color balance, blues and greens are upped a little to show through the filter.
