masked out all the pool balls

desaturated the pool balls

masked out all the numbers and the 8 ball

smoothed out the hard lines and "divits" in the numbers and 8 ball

masked out all the originally white areas of the balls

here I smoothed out all the imperfections in the white areas of the pool balls

masked all the original colored parts of the pool balls

I had to smooth out the imperfections again because chocolate "balls" are not rough

added a dark brown to the numbers and 8 ball with the layer property set to soft light
step 11 of 16
added a bevel to the numbers with an overlay property
step 12 of 16
added a milk chocolate color to the originally colored parts of the balls with the layer property set to overlay
step 13 of 16
added curves adjustment mask to the milk chocolate layer to give it more color depth
step 14 of 16
added a creme color to the originally white areas of the pool balls with the layer property set to linear burn to give it the appearance of white chocolate
step 15 of 16
added another dark brown to the numbers and 8 ball with the property set to color dodge

everything merged together and finished
