The chassis is made from 3 spheres. Two for the wheels and the axle, one for the axle housing. Modeled using extrude/chamfer/bevel techniques.

The side turrets are a sphere, and 3 cylinders. Modeled using poly modeling techniques.

The front small plasma rifle turret is one sphere and one cylinder, shaped with poly modeling.

The main cabin was modeled using extrude/chamfer/ the use of the ff 4x4x4 modifier and a plugin called "Greeble"

I added a background image to the scene, then set about aligning the camera to the image so that I could place the models on the image.

The final setup before render. 3 photometric free lights used to cast shadows on the shadow/matte material. Giving the appearance that the machines are receiving light from the sun in the image.
