In this steps I used various parts of the statue to create and arm.
step 2 of 15
I took those various parts and fit them together to look like this.
step 3 of 15
I then too various parts of the statue to create parts for a torso. I made all the pieces seperat on the arm and the torso because I later use the burn and dodge tools and it is much easier to work this way.
step 4 of 15
In this step I move the pieces together to make a torso shape.
step 5 of 15
I then put the torso and arm together to make half of a body.
step 6 of 15
In this step I just duplicated the half of the body and flipped it horizontally to make a full upper body.
step 7 of 15
I decided it would be easier to create the highlight and shadows on half of the upper body first so I deleted the duplicated half created in the previous step and focused on this half of the upper body. I used the burn tool to create some shadows and I used the dodge tool to create some highlights to give the body some depth.
step 8 of 15
Then I duplicated the half and flipped it horizontally to make a full upper body. I blended areas together that were not fitting correctly.
step 9 of 15
In this step I cut out various parts of the statue to make the head. I am doing everything in halves. :-) I find it easier this way.
step 10 of 15
I placed the head approximately where I wanted it.
step 11 of 15
I then masked out part of the face I no longer wanted. I also resized the actual head piece to fit the face.
step 12 of 15
I used the dodge and burn tool to create more highlights and shadows on the face and head to blend them together more and give the head more depth. I also cut out this eye that I found at morguefile.com.
step 13 of 15
I placed the eyes in the correct places and gave them an inner-glow to give them some depth. I also added more shadows and highlights using the burn and dodge tools.
step 14 of 15
In this step I gave the image a black background and I also made the stone man look as though he was disintegrating. I did this using a mask at the base of the torso. I the used the clone stamp and a splatter brush to create the disintegrating pieces below the torso.
step 15 of 15
I used a sky background in this step that I found at morguefile.com. I also messed with the color balance of the stone man to make him fit more in the environment.
