Creating butterfly, 1st with outline drawing with brush tool, then filling in w paint bucket.
step 3 of 11
With scale tool, source trees are brought up to 120 resolution, then formed into a square 12 x 12. Butterflies are moved into canvas, then duplicated. Some duplications are scaled larger, some smaller, and some are rotated at different angles. Others are flipped horizontally and distorted into slightly different positions. Smaller butterflies are placed toward bottom of trees because they will end up in center. Butterflies will get larger toward the top, some overlapping top of the square.
step 4 of 11
Now all butterfly and tree layers are merged.
step 5 of 11
Next the whole canvas is flipped vertically (to be upside down is very important).
step 6 of 11
Now with filter/distort/polar coordinate tool, the planet is formed. Adjust the percentage until center is filled in (in the little window) before applying the PolCoor tool.
step 7 of 11
Corners and edges around planet are now removed with eraser tool
step 8 of 11
Red sky source
step 9 of 11
A layer of red sky is added and moved to back layer and cropped to fit canvas.
step 10 of 11
Additional butterflies are now added, mostly around outside and on top of trees. They are scaled to various sizes, with larger ones appearing to be flying toward the planet.
step 11 of 11
Last of all, some color/hue changes are made to the planet, adding some greenish touches .
