I painted in the mouth, copied the left eye and flipped it horizontally to the right side. Painted in some irises around the black which made the pupils. The mouth took at least 3 hours to get it right.

Painted in the wings. I did the skeleton part with a pen tool outline and then added an INNER stroke.

I drew in a rough outline of the body and began working on the scales one scale at a time until I had enough to clone some later on.

I added more scales and started playing with the lighting.

Here I added the top spikes on the spine, worked on the face and shading. I increased the opening of the throat because it always looked like it was heading down instead of up where the rest of his body was going.
