Pattern layer made from source spring photo. Filter with wave filter at amplitude of 35 and 540. this pattern layer will be added just before final gold filter at end.

A container for flowers is created with brush tool and source spring photo has been brought in to use in background. It is reduced in size, will be later resized when window is added.

Window is added and here center sections are being removed with eraser tool.

Using main source photo as reference, cherry blossoms are drawn here with brush tool.

Blossoms are now shaded with burn tool.

Details have been brushed into blossoms and leaves are created with brush tools, also. Veins are drawn in with the dodge tool at a very fine setting.

Blossoms are duplicated many times, some are sized to smaller sizes and used along upper bamboo sections. Some smaller ones are also added toward sides at bottom of arrangement. Dodge and burn tools will add shadows and highlights.

Here the heighth of the canvas was enlarged to open up the space for the window with spring scene. Both are scaled taller to fill in the space.

This shows that the pattern layer created in step 1 is laid over the purple layer. It is reduced in opacity to 21% so that purple shows through it.

Finally, a gold filter is added over the merged scene at 60% opacity.
