step 1 of 47

I started of with a vertex sphere. Adjusted the number of radial edges from 8 to 32

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 1

step 2 of 47

Change the front view to right or left in order to delete the backside of the sphere

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 2

step 3 of 47

Scale the sphere to a height and width what is suited as basis for the front face

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 3

step 4 of 47

when deleting the backside do keep some edges from from this backside this is usefull to position you mask in the scene

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 4

step 5 of 47

Select your mask to reposition this into the center of the contruction room.

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 5

step 6 of 47

Now its centered we are going to model it.

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 6

step 7 of 47

Starting with the chin. To have a smooth modiling use set the soft selection

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 7

step 8 of 47

Move up or down the selection to get the right form on the 3d model

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 8

step 9 of 47

Increse the selection + or - sign on the right and proceed with modeling

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 9

step 10 of 47

repeat the previos steps until the lower part of the face is "ok".

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 10

step 11 of 47

Ok this my "oK" point around the eye height

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 11

step 12 of 47

Repeat the same procedure as for the lower part of the face for the upper part

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 12

step 13 of 47

When moving up or down the select vertices see how the soft selection moves along.

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 13

step 14 of 47

Ok this will be my basic shape of the head.

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 14

step 15 of 47

Its time to work on the nose

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 15

step 16 of 47

To ease the selection work look at the rightside and press the btw (between) button.

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 16

step 17 of 47

once more btw and a triangle is selected.

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 17

step 18 of 47

Extrude the nose, to ease the extrusion set the link polygons and also on the rightside manual offset enter -1 (this will extrude the selected faces to the outside (+1 will make it go to the center)

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 18

step 19 of 47

Scale the selection a little.

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 19

step 20 of 47

To ease you work in the constructer room changing your tool right click and select the function you need, in this case rotate the selection

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 20

step 21 of 47

Bring the upper part a little forehead

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 21

step 22 of 47

Now we start moving the nose around bring it more upfront. again the keep the surface smooth we set the soft selection

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 22

step 23 of 47

Increase selection and move onup to the back outwards until there is the point yeah this is it.

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 23

step 24 of 47

Agzin increase selection or decrease and adjust the position of the selection

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 24

Do not be afraid to do something wrong there is always still the ctrl-Z to undo.

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 25

step 26 of 47

Check the result form all sides

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 26

step 27 of 47

And make some final adjustments before proceding

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 27

step 28 of 47

After the modeling of the cheek bone i started to create the upper part of the eye socket

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 28

step 29 of 47

In a mask or sculpture the bone can have some exaggeration.

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 29

step 30 of 47

The eye ball. although its not the most important part of the face for the structure its the one of the most important part to my opinion for the character. Eyes of a pig and you know whats out this one will screw you big eyes and you could be dealing with a naivete (?) person.

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 30

step 31 of 47

Duplicate with symmetry

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 31

step 32 of 47

Position and boelan join together face and eyes

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 32

step 33 of 47

check the result with the "take a pickture" with fotograph on the left

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 33

step 34 of 47

adjust the nose bone

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 34

step 35 of 47

The chin

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 35

step 36 of 47

model chin increase and decrease selection carefully. whatch your actions from all sides

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 36

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 41

step 42 of 47

What a bold head

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 42

step 43 of 47

Select upper part what is going to be lifted

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 43

step 44 of 47

After extruding just rotate and move the extruded part to give it a good appearance

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 44

step 45 of 47

When moving around with the upper part of the head keep track of what the back part is doing the big head shape has to stay in place

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 45

step 46 of 47

The feather i created a texture and a next picture

Creation of Parade of the masks: Step 46

step 47 of 47

and an alpha and this is projectwed on a flat surface as a shader definition of that surface.
