Duplicate the Layer with the picture and set it to multiply.

create a new layer give a gradient to it change the blending mode to soft ligth and turn the opacity to 73%
step 3 of 4
Select a soft brush with the parameters show below and erase the parts of the rock that you don't want to have color.

Create a new layer fill it with black and change the blending mode to soft light and lower the opacity to 48%. and thats it... Simple and pretty
