The trunk was selected and then copied to a new layer.

The Liquify Filter was used to reduce the size of the trunk with the Pucker and Forward Warp tools.
step 4 of 5
The Clone tool was then used to remove the chains, eliminate the green pant legs behind the elephant, and remove the trunk.
step 5 of 5
The "shrunk trunk" layer was then placed on top, and the Clone Tool used to blend the edges and skin texture.
