I used the Clone stamp and some brushes to remove the chains.

The idea was to make a spaceship.

Some brushing later the idea turned into a battlescene.

I added some details on the supportframe from the original swing.

I first outlined the area I wanted to destroy with a dark multiply brush. Then I used a scattered multiply stamp tool to create the shadow and highlights. Finally I used a scattered stamp tool to create the sand in the destroyed area.
It's just very important to play with the brush settings and save the brushes that work best for you.(And a pressure pen will help!)

Finally I added laser lines with the line tool i made one layer with laserlines after that I duplicated the layer and faded the new layer a little bit with a scattered smudge brush.
