Background is made first by duplicating the source and joining duplicates together.
step 3 of 10
Gradient layer in pastels is added over the duplicates just merged together. Opacity is cut back to allow the design of glass to show through.
step 4 of 10
A duplicate layer of the pastels just made, is layered over chop of the butterfly and trimmed to butterfly shape using eraser tool. Before deleting the butterfly, dodge and burn tools bring up contrast of butterfly so that it shows through and design of wings show through to be recreated with brush tools. Butterfly is then deleted.
step 5 of 10
Several shapes in the glass
are chopped out of source photo. These are used to make some flower shapes by duplicating and rotating them. This flower will be used in large size, and also will be scaled into very small shape to be used for the hanging flowers.
step 6 of 10
Here are the steps to forming the blue flower. Much shaping is done with scale, distort, and rotate tools.
step 7 of 10
This part of glass is chopped out and will be used for the vining effect.
step 8 of 10
Stems are being moved around here to find a pleasing design.
step 9 of 10
Many more changes will be made with placement of the butterflies (duplicated and color changed with hue/sat tool), large flowers and swirl designs, but first the hanging flower is created by scaling down the large flower, then duplicating and rotating them until a stem of them is made. After merging, entire stem is duplicated and made lighter/darker using brightness/contrast tool.
step 10 of 10
After design is finished, lower part of background is burned for shadows then a filter of blue is applied over it at 30 % opacity.
