Since I know how to fold a paper boat irl, I made one to make it easier to replikate it in 3d. The boat is made from basic modelling starting with a plane.
step 2 of 9
I started with a sphere. Then I used the ffd box modifier to shape my rock. Material is original with the program.
step 3 of 9
I used a box as water. First I was going to make it see-through but I changed it for a fully reflective surface but kept the box as water. I also added some ripples with the ripple modifier.
step 4 of 9
Everything at their place for the final view. For lightning I used the daylight system. Adding haze to the sky gives soft shadows from the sun. I also added a plane with the Hair and Fur modifier and mixed around with the settings to get the grass in the background.
step 5 of 9
The materials I used. All original with 3D Studio Max 2011.
Materials: Benedeti.jpg / Sky.Sunset.Orange.jpg / Ambient occlusion / standard white material / Arch and Design water material
step 6 of 9
The ambient occlusion render
step 7 of 9
Zdepth pass for blur which was added with Lens Blur in Photoshop.
step 8 of 9
Image before post-processing. Blur / Brightness and contrast, and Hue and saturation was changed.
step 9 of 9
Updated sbs:
1. The plane I started with
2. First edit poly to create first half of the boat, just simple moving and some weld
3. Mirror to create the other half
4. Edit poly again, weld the two sides together, also chamfer some edges. The "fold" in the middle was created by copying one side of the middle section over the other side and bending it down.
