Modeled the hull using simple box modeling techniques. Extrude and chamfer.
step 2 of 11
Modeled the deck out of a plane, cut and extruded the required polygons.
step 3 of 11
Added the doors using the door primitives, modeled the tiller from a lofted spline.
step 4 of 11
Basic water using a plane with lots of segments 200x200. Then added a noise modifier with small adjustments to the x,y values. Canal water is generally very still.
step 5 of 11
Added the jetty with a simple box and some cylinders for posts.
step 6 of 11
Added 2 atmospheric box gizmos so I could add a very fine layer of volume fog, so the water blended better into the background.
step 7 of 11
Set up a simple background with a cylinder, inverted the normals and UV mapped the background image on to it.
step 8 of 11
Finished scene before rendering. Two lights in the scene. A target direct for the sun, and a simple omni to illuminate only the background.
step 9 of 11
Name painting done in PS. Simple text in a goldish colour.
step 10 of 11
This is the mask I created from the name painting. This meant I could use the name painting as a composite and overlay it onto the main hull.
step 11 of 11
Occlusion map created in crazy bump. This was placed over the original image and blended at about 28% opacity in the multiply mode in PS. Just to give the shadows a bit more depth.
