Duplicate the small fronds and reposition them farther up the stem for less compositional crowding.

Extract the baby from the background

Clone and paint out the end of the fern and the smaller ferns duplicated in Step 1.

Desaturate the extracted baby image, and apply a Noise Gradient map to provide a "base" color similar to the Fern Source Image.
step 5 of 6
Position the colored baby layer over the adjusted Source Image, and then clone and paint it to blend.
step 6 of 6
Add the small ferns from Step 1, and blend the edges.
