By using warp and liquify, I stretched the nose out and flared the nostrils. I used copies of the eye and eye ridge to fix those distorted parts. I used the pen tool to separate the jaw from the rest of the head. The teeth and beak were made using the pen tool and copy. I used color adjustment to make the reddish jaw hinge and inside the mouth. I burned the jaw hinge and darkened and reduced saturation on the inside of the mouth.
step 3 of 15
I used distort, liquify and a layer mask to make the tongue. After I got the shape, I used color adjustment, darkened it and desaturated. I used burn on a copy of the hinge piece for the gum line. I dodged and burned the teeth, made copy of the foreground teeth and added them to the inside mouth piece. After I placed the tongue, I used Brightness/Contrast adjustment layers (both lighter and darker), as well as a lighter levels adjustment layer to shade the tongue.
step 4 of 15
I used color adjustment on the skin to make it an orange yellow color. Copies of the skin were warped to make the curve of the neck and then the clone tool was used to blend the pieces. Match color on the head pieces to conform. The whisker is the tongue texture distorted and then Filter > Distort > Wave to give it shape. Bevel and Emboss to shade it. The nose spikes were made the same way as the teeth. The lizard jaw was used to make the front of the neck by using the pen tool to isolate part of it and match color to the skin. Parts of this new piece were copied and layered to form the curve.
step 5 of 15
The skin piece was used again with warp and liquify to shape the back legs and tail
step 6 of 15
To lengthen the tail, I used the neck piece and added the wings, using distort on them.
step 7 of 15
I used the pen tool to make a spike, then copied it and gradually decreased the size.
step 8 of 15
To make the foot, I borrowed a piece from the leg and used a layer mask to shape it. I used the pen tool on the leg piece to make the toes and used a spike for the claws.
step 9 of 15
Color overlay was used on the skin to deepen the color.
step 10 of 15
Adjustment layer masks of Brightness/Contrast (light, dark and lighter) plus an adjustment layer mask of Color Balance were used to shade the parts. When the spike were done, I used the burn tool to shade them.
step 11 of 15
Added the cow and a wing muscle on the shoulder
step 12 of 15
I used perspective distort on the wall and after cloning out the squares, did the same for the floor.
step 13 of 15
After cutting out a section of the wall, I put a painted square behind it and used Filter > Render > Lighting Effects. I painted the figures and then painted the high lights on a separate layer. I made the mesh by using View > Show > Grid and the pen tool. Then I added the frame.
step 14 of 15
The claw marks were painted, using a dark color with a lighter colored layer under it. The scorch marks were made with a very large soft brush and then smudged.
step 15 of 15
I used a soft brush and blur for the shadows and distort, blur and reduced opacity for the light thru the wings. I also used lighting effects on the walls and floor.
Excellent Job!!
