Debris in foreground is lassoed then flipped to start tree.
step 3 of 12
Liquify warp tool starts creating shape of tree from the debris.
step 4 of 12
Right side of tree is formed also with liquify warp tool.
step 5 of 12
Additional limbs are added using smudge tools.
step 6 of 12
Tree branches are all added and color changes are started (bringing up the yellows/reds) and burn and dodge tools have started establishing lights and darks.
step 7 of 12
Background source is added on layer behind the tree. Then, just the bottom is changed with one right to left swipe of large liquify warp tool.
step 8 of 12
A Strip of the boardwalk is curved by using polar coordinate tool, then duplicated and same tool used again. This created the swirl which was scaled to stretch across image, then inserted with less opacity in distance. In the foreground, it was inserted to blend with background liquified earlier.
step 9 of 12
Noise texture has been added here to the tree.
step 10 of 12
Shapes are from objects in the water in the source (leaf/white paper/etc.) and will be used with color upped to decorate the tree.
step 11 of 12
Here jewel-like apples are added in several sizes to the tree, and other 'jewels' are set into the trunk of the tree.
step 12 of 12
Another leaf in the water is isolated, then scaled and added to tree in a few places. Several of these are falling down to the left of the tree (like over the edge) and are given motion blur. A yellow filter is added over merged image. The background also was shifted at this point to bring top left blue area into the scene to balance off the bottom right blue streaks.
