First, sections of the source and lassoed and moved onto a new canvas.
step 2 of 19
Here are steps to making strips used in making the fields and water. A piece of source is lassoed, erased into a rectangle, stretched longer using scale tool, then changed into wavy shape using liquify-warp tool. This will be texturized , and color changed (hue/sat tool).
step 3 of 19
Liquified-warped strip is duplicated and stacked here, then merged to use to create the fields in the image.
step 4 of 19
Mountains have been formed by using duplicated/wavy sections, rotating and color changing to look faraway. Field are done in the same manner.
Water is formed with wavy strip, one strip at a time, offsetting each strip to the right or left each time to look more like waves.
step 5 of 19
Snow has been added with brush tools to mountain tops. Sky is filled in with cloud/difference.
step 6 of 19
'Leaves' for trees are created now. The long brass-like piece with screws is used here, duplicating and stacking side by side. Then strips are merged.
step 7 of 19
This is the polar coordinate formed.
step 8 of 19
Left side of polar coor. is erased away, then right side is duplicated, flipped and merged to other side. This makes the circle-like sections which will be color changed to green and made into trees.
step 9 of 19
From circle design, small trees are made, using brush tool for trunk, then merging.
step 10 of 19
Circle (Leaf) shape is also used to create pine trees. Circle is turned to dark green then smudged into branches which can be stacked then merged.
step 11 of 19
Pine trees are being duplicated, and large tree is created with many duplications of the circle leaf shape and a trunk brushed in. Wave sections are scaled into narrower strips.
step 12 of 19
After waves are scaled smaller, canvas is enlarged at bottom to make room for a ship.
step 13 of 19
Boat is started with section of source,
step 14 of 19
Front of boat is built up using duplicates of front of the boat. Long metal strip will be scaled to slender strip to use for masts.
step 15 of 19
Masts are in place and ropes flags added using brush tools.
step 16 of 19
Sails are formed from the gold, textured section of source.
step 17 of 19
Sails have been added to masts, and more detailing done to boat using brush tools.
step 18 of 19
Finally, more trees are added in background and burn tool used to fill in shadows where needed.
step 19 of 19
Birds are created using eraser tool and dodge and burn tools from section of source which had been used for the sails.
