step 1 of 6

To start with I needed to find my exposure for the eggs alone. I used a roll of white seamless, set up from the wall unto the table and then placed a white bathroom tile. The eggs would sit on the tile and hopefully cast the reflection I was looking for.

Once the main was set I needed to work on the background light. I blocked off the second light using black foam board. I needed the second light only just hit the back of the tile and all the background. Once this would happen the back edge of the tile would blow out to white.

step 3 of 6

Once the second light was in place and the back edge of the tile was blowing to white like I wanted, I could try a few shots using both lights. The main light lighting only the eggs, and the second light only the background.

Adding more tiles and shooting from a lower angle I was able to take the background in the lower part of the shot also to pure white. From the lower shooting angle, the bathroom tiles were snapping to white by catching the reflection off the background. The second tile needed to sit slight ontop of the first tile.

To finish with, I wanted to change the composition and try a few more test shots. The one main problem I came across, was by having my background light set too high, I started to get some light wrap from the background paper reflecting back. To correct this, I just needed to lower the background light by a third of a stop or so.

wipe all the tiles. Find the composition and add another tile so I could shoot wider.
