Firstly, I created a sketch on photoshop. As you can see the finl result is a bit different from the sketch.

How I created the planets
I found some nice rock photos that I used them as the planet's textures. Let see in detail what I have done!
I openned the rock texture at Ps and I cropped the best part of the image that it could fit better as a planet's texture. I used stamp tool to make it better. Take a result like this

Create a circle with elliptical marquee tool, select inverse and delete.
Then apply Filter- Distort- Spherize- 100%
Apply the previous step twice.
Then desaturate it (ctrl+ shift+ U)

Duplicate the layer with our circle three times. Select the circle with ctrl and clicking to the area next to the name of our layer, under the layers pallete. Fill the first layer that we had duplicated it with the colour that our planet we want to be and the rest of them with black. We have a result like this:

Move the texture layer above the layer with colour. Select the second black layer, change the blending mode to screen and apply the following blending options:
1. Inner Shadow
2. Outer Glow
3. Inner Glow

After the previous changes we take a result like this one:

It's time to create the dark side of the planet. We apply Filter- Blur- Gauassian Blur- 120 pixels at the first layer
Move this layer a bit to the side that it will be the dark one. Low the opacity of the layer with texture.
Duplicate the texture layer and apply image- addjustments- brightness/ contrast with the preferable options and lower its opacity.
As you can see some planets have rings. I created them by creating a new layer and fill it with black. See in detail:

These are three of the final planets. At the background you can see the image with clouds. I used them to create the space effect!
