Dark portion is used for back of bird and on the head area, using liquify warp, brush and eraser tools. Distort tool helps to shape the black portion to fit over the eye area.
step 5 of 11
Here the black over the eye has been shaped and distorted to fit.
step 6 of 11
Here the head, neck and beak have been worked on using brush tools and smudge tools. Much work on feathers will also be done with my tablet and pen in soft brush mode.
step 7 of 11
Long breast feathers are created here using the tablet and pen, the back has had burn tool (hard) to get dark areas and feather pattern established. Other body feathers are lightly drawn in with brush tool.
step 8 of 11
Finishing of back and lower breast feathers are done now using combination of tablet and pen, brush tools and smudge tools. Dodge and burn tools add highlights and depths.

Background is now brought in. This will be cropped after bridge is finished.
step 10 of 11
Bridge is created using dark area of source for walkway with lots of filter scratches, noise, etc. added. Hand rails are, of course, made using the lighter portionof metal sculpture source. Distort, eraser and perspective tools help give curved shape,
step 11 of 11
bird is moved into foreground and background is cropped so that bird will be featured rather than the background, although that background is so beautiful I hated to crop it.
