Background is chopped out of source around blades of grass and flower, too.
step 3 of 8
Grass section is duplicated several times, flipped horizontally, scaled to several sizes, then placed to fill bottom of canvas. With liquify warp tool, some blades are extended into interesting angles and shapes.
step 4 of 8
Here are steps to making the hummingbird. It is drawn using stylus on a Bamboo pad. Then colors are sprayed in, after which burn and dodge tools are used to fill in feathered areas, and add dark and llight areas.
step 5 of 8
A second flower has been added, and hummingbird is also added.
step 6 of 8
Sky has been brushed in and will be lightened later and have a brighter layer under it. Wings on bird are being blurred to help show its movement.
step 7 of 8
Sky has been brightened with more work on the wings to soften edges.
step 8 of 8
Rather than show a blue sky, I chose to tend toward the green/gold colors as in the grass. Just a little of the sparkley look from the nebulas is left in the sky so as not to look llike stars, but rather just a sparkle to the image.
