Started with a Sphere, flattened it a little bit, then added geometry for a stalk.
step 2 of 13
Selected every x line, and scaled in.
step 3 of 13
Jittered the geometry to add nature's randomness.
step 4 of 13
Further defined the indents in the pumpkin.
step 5 of 13
Added smaller indents within the larger indents. Jittered them to simulate randomness.
step 6 of 13
Scaled the stalk down on the top and gave it a bend.
step 7 of 13
Created a sidewalk for the pumpkin to set on, the lower image is the crease in the concrete.
step 8 of 13
Traced some geometry on a new mesh, then wrapped it onto the pumpkin by means of a move tool with a background constraint.
step 9 of 13
Deleted the geometry on the existing pumpkin where the pattern was wrapped on it, then patched in geometry to match.
step 10 of 13
Copied pumpkin, then pasted in same layer and scaled down. This will allow me to bridge the two cutouts for the interior of the pumpkin.
step 11 of 13
Bridged the two together. The inside texture was later changed to a lighter color and smoothed.
step 12 of 13
Ended up adding grass next to the sidewalk. Also increased the length of the sidewalk so it disappears into the black. Used this depth map to add slight depth of field for added realism.
step 13 of 13
Modeled a tea light candle so light wasn't just coming from nowhere. ;)
