step 1 of 6

Number 1.

I first created a diamond, to do this, first create a cone shape with a primitive.

Number 2.

Next convert to editable poly and select the inside pixels and raise them up.

Number 3.

Create an extra line across the middle to create some more facets, then apply a smooth modifier but do not apply any smoothing.

Number 4.

Next give your diamond a gemstone texture, I used a 3DS Max glass materiel and increased the ROI to 2.42 Diffuse level is 1.0 Reflectivity is 1.0 Glossiness is 1.0 and Transparency is 1.0

step 2 of 6

Number 1.

To create the crown I started out with a tube primitive with 12 sides.

Number 2.

Next I converted it to editable poly then activated polygon mode and selected six top polygons.

Number 3.

I extruded them up next.

Number 4.

Next I scaled them to a point and applied mesh smooth modifier.

step 3 of 6

Number 1.

I added some spheres to the top of each point and also added some tours primitives to the bottom and middle of the crown.

Number 2.

Next I added some more tours primitives to the bottom and top but this time they were rotated to be against the side of the crown.

Next I added some of the gemstones I created earlier to the inside of the tours primitives and then copied them around the crown.

Number 3.

Next I textured the crown with 3DS Max materiel gold foil. You can find this material in 3DS Max under Metal.

The gemstones were colored using the same diamond material I used on the previous gemstones, however this time I changed the color to red and one to blue and one to yellow.

step 4 of 6

Next I created a plane in the top viewport and another much smaller plane that I converted to edit poly and made the corners round for the gemstone cloth.

Then I placed a few lights in the scene to shine on the gemstones and to illuminate the scene.

Then I merged the crown and then gemstones into the scene and arranged them and then I created a camera.

For the cloth the gemstones rest on I used a free texture you can get here.

Fabric (99).JPG

I imported this texture into Photo shop and desaturated it and increased the lighting so it turned white colored.

Next I imported it to my material editor and applied it to my cloth object.
