Scanned in my sketch. Yes! I drew this up freehand.
step 2 of 17
Turned the freehand sketch into a tracing template and drew up the linework.
step 3 of 17
I was taking pictures of the moon with a Sony Digital SLR Still Camera during a full moon phase. It took me a month to get all of the wanning and waxing crescents and gibbuss', but it was worth it in the end, because I was able to get some cool pictures of a full moon.
step 4 of 17
I chose a background style using Photoshop CS4. The style was embedded inside of this version of Photoshop.
step 5 of 17
Used my moon picture to create a selection and pasted it on top of the background.
step 6 of 17
This is where the project started to get tricky. I had to take the outline I created and cut out individual pieces to style them seperately.
step 7 of 17
Just continued to style each individual piece of the Grim Reaper.
step 8 of 17
Continued to style the Grim Reaper. I was working on the darker pieces of the drawing here.
step 9 of 17
Started styling the sycle. Pretty sure I'm not spelling "sycle" right, but I'm sure you got the idea.
step 10 of 17
Continued to style the "sicle". Hmm? Maybe I should take the time to look up the word "sicle" to see if I am spelling it right. "Sycle," "sicle"... We say tomatoe and others say tomotoe. Oh well. Sure you guys are getting the picture though.
step 11 of 17
Had to select the globe part of the skull and style it with an embedded Photoshop CS4 Style before changing to opacity to 65%.
step 12 of 17
Selected the skull from my outline and styled it using an embedded Photoshop CS4 style.
step 13 of 17
Continued to style pieces of the skull, such as the jaw and teeth. Each and every piece of my drawing had to be selected seperately in order to get the style to look decent.
step 14 of 17
Added the teeth and styled them using an embedded Phothoshop CS4 style.
step 15 of 17
Started working on the eye sockets.
step 16 of 17
Continued to style the eye sockets using styles embedded in Photoshop CS4.
step 17 of 17
Selected my lettering and finished styling the sketch that I scanned into Adobe Photoshop CS4. This concludes the step-by-step, but I think I'll continue working on this project, because there are pieces near the Grim Reaper that I would like to fill in sometime in the near future. It is good enough for now though. Talk about time consuming. Fun! But time consuming.
