The base for the triangle in the middle is a cylinder. Reduce it to 3 sides and 50x50 width and height.
step 2 of 8
Make the tri a little more detailed. To do this extrude inner and then extrude.
step 3 of 8
Position it for the final scene. Camera facing
step 4 of 8
Add an emitter, try and make this emitter set to make a nice random set of particles which will make nice tenticles. Change the spread on vert and horiz and the speed and variance. This is just experimentation. Then you can also add some turbulence with a modifier which makes the movement more interesting.
step 5 of 8
Now the tentacles, which are automatically animated.
Add a tracer linked with the emitter, then use a small rectangle with in a sweep nurb with the tracer and in the sweep settings set the end scale to 20%
step 6 of 8
have a few of these with different bright colours on them and change the settings a little for each one to make it more interesting. Also add a pure white one going in the opposite direction.
step 7 of 8
So this is the start of the piece a few frames into it. The tentacles grow along the way further from the center.
step 8 of 8
This shot is just to show the scene. The camera is just looking directly at the piece with no elevation or angle on that.
Only one light was used and that had a simple soft shadow on it.
All materials were made by myself and were really easy since they were just basic colours or a colour with a glow on it.
