The beginning of our walk...our destination is about 5 km from here...
step 2 of 6
The first thing we find is a giant granite boulder...origination point, Northern Canada, they were deposited here by glaciers during the last ice age...he is fascinated to see some of the things he learns in science class close up.
step 3 of 6
The next find is a pile of logs left over from some logging in the area...he's 'peacemaking-out' against logging and leaving...it's a shame when they clear-cut an area and just leave some of the wood to rot.
step 4 of 6
Being a young outdoorsman in training...my son points out some deer tracks along the road...I've taught him to keep an eye out for animal sign.
step 5 of 6
We find what we are looking for...the field of flowers and fern...nearly time to stop...
step 6 of 6
Destination reached, we unpack our "Military Lunch"....MRE's...My son is fascinated about my time spent in the service and loves to have these military lunches...just him and I, in the outdoors...before we have to pack out or trash and take the long walk home.
