Ok So this is the step by step pxleyes asked that I resubmit my entry with. Like I described in the comments area, I masked the tree and doubled it reversing the image to make a symmetrical, melded version of the tree that I then used filters, curves, and saturation techniques to effect. I'm not sure how many step by step images I need to post, so I guess i'll start with this one.

I'll try to just add three or four steps even though it really took a lot of detail work to get from one to the next. Here's the next.

I ended up blending the chrome, stained glass and a steel blue saturated version of the double tree image typically by using either overlay, luminosity, or pin light.

I guess this is close enough to the final version and will be the last step I enter. I tried to make the tree become more a part of the sculpture behind it and then created the illusion that the stained glass and pole actually come forward to overlap the tree.
