Piecing everything together

I took a small part from the curved thin gold and, copying and aligning it, made a straight gold part. The shield is made from part of the source, copied, placed and cloned to blend. I used warp and liquify to shape the parts.

The handle is made from part of the shield, using color adjustment to change the color. I used adjustment layers to shade and brighten.
